Eventual height/spread:

The plant's ultimate height in typical growing conditions is between 2-8 metres. The ultimate spread in typical growing conditions is between 2-5 metres. Expect to see moderate growth during growing season.

Soil: Moist but Well Drained

An olive tree will be tolerant of a wide range of soil types. Use soil that allows water to drain at a moderate rate, without the water pooling.

Maintenance: Low

Minimal skill or input needed. Little pruning required, only enough to maintain shape. Young olive trees may need to be staked to assist with stability.

Water Requirement: Moderate

An olive tree will be very dry-tolerant once established, and happy with natural rainfall between 500-750mm, provided that most of this falls in winter. Best watering pattern is moderate amounts during winter, small amounts in spring during flower and fruit set, then a dry summer as fruit develop.

Situation: Full Sun

Olive trees will grow best in full sun, although it will grow in some shade. Trees will become more 'leggy' and less dense in heavily shaded areas.
